JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Purpose

Operate and maintain power and manual handling equipment in accordance with approved industry standards, quality procedures, safety guidelines and within the scope of the technician’s qualifications and competencies to ensure integrity of the client’s wells.

Key Responsibilities

Operate power and manual handling equipment within client’s time specification in compliance with Weatherford Tubular Running Service Competence Assurance System to maintain integrity of the client’s wells.

Maintain power and manual handling equipment at work area within client’s time specification in compliance with Weatherford Tubular Running Service Competence Assurance System to allow equipment to be operational on location.

Carry out stabber duties (including pipe alignment and stabbing, signalling Driller and operating handling tools) on stabbing board to avoid damage to pipe during pipe makeup operations within client’s time specification in compliance with Weatherford Tubular Running Service Competence Assurance System to maintain integrity of the client’s wells.

Operate power and manual handling equipment within work originator’s time specification (Internal/External customers) in horizontal applications onshore, in accordance with approved industry standards, safety and quality procedures, legislation and within the scope of the technician’s qualifications and competencies to meet customer’s work requirements.

Contact Operations office on a daily basis or as instructed to receive job and check-in details.  Additionally, attend pre and post job briefings as instructed to ensure the communication of issues and information is facilitated.  Additionally, to attend industry and company training as instructed and required by Company, industry or clients. 

Other auxiliary offshore duties such as cleaning of tongs, stowing of hoses and other housekeeping/maintenance duties in a safe manner as directed and supervised by the Crew Chief, provided the instruction is reasonable and you are capable and deemed competent to fulfil these.

QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications

Essential

 

Minimum O level/Standard grades in Mathematics, Arithmetic and English

Driving licence

Underwater re-breather course

Preferred

  • Offshore survival certificate
  • Mechanical qualification
  • Qualification covering Competence objectives
  • Driving licence
  • Underwater re-breather course

Experience

Preferred

  • Previous mechanical/electrical experience or college course
  • Previous field experience as a Service Technician, Floorman, or Derrickman
  • Relevant experience gained internally within Weatherford, having worked on equipment relevant to tubular running service
  • Experience of casing tongs and associated equipment
