This position is focused on providing the necessary skills and knowledge in order to safely perform basic MicrofluxTM Control System (MFC) functions as a technician or Engineer. The expectation is for the individual to be proficient in applying knowledge and applications of the MicrofluxTM Control System and Rotating Control Devices (RCD). Duties and responsibilities are to assist and lead if needed in the rig up, maintenance and operation of all MFC and RCD equipment on the rig site and base when required.

Under the direction and supervision of the location manager or supervisor, the technician will undergo training in order to meet the minimum HSE certification and technical requirements required to rig up, operate, perform maintenance and troubleshoot the MFC and RCD.

This position will also provide onshore Engineer support and assist with equipment preparation including repair and maintenance as required for their project.


At the discretion of product line management (such as the Engineering Manager, Operations Manager, or their designee) will be responsible for working in the shop.  This will include but not limited to green tagging, preparing, and/or assisting with shipping equipment to job site.

Assist with and occasionally supervise rig up/ down, function test, pressure test, and operation of all MPD equipment on site and preparing the paperwork requirements with minimal supervision. This can be done in the base or field location.

Train and mentor RCD and trainee and MFC I engineers/operators in the field

Assist and occasionally supervise all MPD, mechanical and hydraulic inspection requirements (As required)

Assist and occasionally supervise any changes to MPD, mechanical or hydraulic equipment (As required)

Communicate and coordinate with internal staff, client, and 3rd party service providers.

Document any incidents in the Weatherford Performance Tracking System (WPTS).

Lead and supervise the completion of all field documentation.

Assist and occasionally supervise JSAs and operational specific procedures.

Actively participate in Tool Box talks, pre-job briefings and after-action reviews

Effectively communicate with rig site personnel.

Troubleshoot MPD equipment and implement corrective action. Conduct Maintenance of RCD and MPD equipment at jobsite and in workshop.

Ensure all equipment is current and complete to latest revision levels including operation manuals.

Assist in maintenance, troubleshooting and the operation of other equipment within Managed Pressure Drilling when required.

Conversant with all matters related to MPD equipment on site, including regulatory standards

Know and understand Weatherford Quality Policy and comply with all requirements of the Quality Systems Manual, Operating and Technical Procedures and Workplace Instructions.

Required to complete the competency requirements identified by Global and Regional Management and remain certified in most current version of MPD software

Must understand and comply with all safety rules and company policies of Weatherford.

Perform various other duties and activities as assigned by the supervisor or management within the physical constraints of the job




Good interpersonal skills

Must be willing to travel to remote land and offshore work locations and possibly to other countries

Ability to travel internally in region or globally if required to attend meetings, customer office assignments, or operations


2 years MPD experience

Previous experience in Oil and Gas industry

High School Diploma/GED



OneSync (or other software) certified

Be trained and signed off competent in the MFC Engineer or Technician role

IWCF Level 3 or 4

Good mechanical aptitude

Understanding of pressure safety

Good organisational and planning skills

Ability to work closely with other team members

Helpful and highly motivated with the ability to prioritise workloads

Good attention to detail

Flexible and able to support and interface with members of staff at all levels

Willingness to learn


Understand basic principles of electricity

Understand basic principles of hydraulics
